The Sindoor ceremony begins after the completion of Kanyadan. Sindoor is a colored powder used by married Indian women. This artificially colored powder is put on parting line of hair by married Indian women. During the ceremony, the groom applies sindoor on the bride's head.
Basically Mangalsutra is a sacred thread that is tied across the bride's neck by the groom. It also shows that a woman is married. The design and look of mangalsutra changes according to the difference in culture.
Seven Vows :
In India, marriage is believed to last for seven births. In this ceremony, seven vows are taken by the couple in front of the holy fire. Vows are taken for love, prosperity, commitment, health, friendship etc. The couple circles the holy fire seven times and every circle signifies a vow. This ceremony signifies the strength of the bond between the couple. After this ceremony, the couple becomes husband and wife.
